The researchers working at Manchester Metropolitan University suggested that high consumption of fast food might increase the risk of depression. The paper of researchers from Manchester Metropolitan’s Bioscience Research Centre suggests that consumption of fast food can promote the inflammation. It also increases the risks of cholesterol and saturated fats, which increase risks by 40% of depression.
The researchers analyzed data from near about 11 other studies, which are investing link between food and depression. These studies suggest 100,000 participants between the age of 16 to 72 years based in US, Australia, the Middle East, and Europe.
All these studies were based on the participant who was showing symptoms of depression or little signs of depression. These participants were assigned to the amount of fast food according to their dietary inflammatory index. The results were consistent irrespective to their age or gender and same for some period.
These results have incredible clinical potential for the treatment of depression and Alzheimer’s diseases and have some of the inflammatory constituents.
As inflammatory diet contains fats while anti-inflammatory diet contains vitamins, fiber, and unsaturated fats. The anti-inflammatory diet has opposite effects and used as a treatment for depression. A Mediterranean diet of olive oil, green vegetables, tomatoes, and fatty fish can reduce the symptoms of depressive symptoms.
Inflammation is the body reduces the defense systems against infections, toxins, and injuries. In order to protect the body from any harm releases proteins and antibodies causing redness and swelling. However, inflammation put the body in alert and can be linked to diseases such as cancer and asthma.
